Terms of Use

1. About these terms
Homepedia Assistant is operated by Homepedia Pty Ltd (ABN 44 643 057 354), referred to here as "Homepedia", "we" or "us". Contact: info@homepedia.com.au.
These terms apply to the tools website at assistant.homepedia.com.au/tools, the public API at /api/tools/v1, the MCP server at /mcp (used from ChatGPT, Claude and other AI assistants) and the publisher portal at /tools/manager (together, "the service"). By using the service you agree to these terms.
Sections 7 to 9 also apply to publishers. Publishers accept these terms as part of registering in the publisher portal, where they confirm that they have read and agree to these terms and the Privacy Policy before their registration is sent.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information.
2. What the service is
Homepedia Assistant provides:
- calculators for income tax estimates, home loan repayments and savings and term deposit interest;
- tables and pages of interest rates and product details for home loans, savings accounts and term deposits, taken from the product data banks and lenders publish under the Consumer Data Right; and
- information published by institutions, people who work for lenders, and mortgage brokers whose identity we have checked ("publishers"), each labelled with who supplied it.
The service is free to use. Homepedia:
- does not give advice or recommendations, or assess whether a product or a person suits you;
- does not take or help with applications, and does not arrange loans or accounts;
- does not pass your details to lenders or brokers; and
- is not paid commissions, per-lead fees or per-click fees by lenders or brokers.
Fees that institutions and publishers pay us are set out in section 8.
3. General information only
Everything on the service is general information. It does not take into account your objectives, financial situation or needs.
- It is not financial product advice, credit advice, tax advice or legal advice, and it is not a recommendation to acquire or keep any product.
- The income tax estimate is an estimate based on the figures you enter and the assumptions shown with it. It is not a tax agent service and does not replace a tax return or advice from a registered tax agent. Homepedia provides tax agent services separately, under a separate engagement.
- We do not suggest that you apply for, or remain in, a particular credit contract or with a particular lender or broker, and we do not help you apply. Section 2 lists what else we do not do. Homepedia does not hold an Australian Credit Licence or an Australian Financial Services Licence.
Before you make a decision, read the lender's own documents and consider getting advice from a licensed professional.
4. Where the information comes from
Information on the service comes from four sources:
- Consumer Data Right data published by lenders. Rates and product details are collected each day from the public product data each lender publishes under the Consumer Data Right. Lenders can change their products at any time, and their data can contain errors or omissions.
- Information submitted by institutions. Products outside the Consumer Data Right, and corrections to an institution's own Consumer Data Right data, are submitted by people authorised to publish for that institution.
- Information declared by publishers. Channel prices, a broker's panel of lenders, bios and what a publisher says about a product or about being able to offer it are declared by the publisher. Homepedia verifies publisher identity and checks credential numbers against the official register. The lenders on a broker's panel, and what a publisher says about a product, are declared by the publisher and are not independently verified by Homepedia.
- Our calculations. Calculators, and comparison rates we recalculate (for example on a channel price), use the methods and assumptions shown on the page and on our Methodology page.
Review before publication. New products, corrections and channel prices are reviewed by a person before they go live. The one exception: once an institution has passed our institution check, a person authorised to publish for it may update a product outside the Consumer Data Right that we have already reviewed and approved. If the update passes our automatic checks, it goes live straight away; we check it afterwards and can take it down. Our review is a check for obvious errors and consistency, not an audit. The publisher is responsible for the content, including its accuracy.
Sources. We show where each piece of information came from and when, for example the lender's product page or data feed and the date we collected it, or who submitted it and when it was reviewed. Links to a lender's or publisher's site are citations of the source. They carry no referral codes, we are not paid per click, and we do not link to application forms.
Order. Rate tables are sorted by the option you choose. On a product page and through our API and MCP, people can be filtered by the user's state or postcode and by language. They are listed in a random order that changes daily. Homepedia does not assess or recommend one person over another. A person appears on a product only while channel pricing or other information they published on that product, reviewed by Homepedia, is current.
We take care to collect and present the information accurately. To the extent the law allows, we do not guarantee that it is complete, accurate or current, or that a product will be available to you on the terms shown. Always confirm rates, fees and eligibility with the lender before you apply. If something looks wrong, use "Report an error" on the page.
5. Using the service
You may use the service for your own information, and you may share results with others. You must not:
- send requests faster or in larger volumes than the limits the service enforces, or try to get around those limits, for example by rotating IP addresses;
- copy or extract the rate data in bulk, or republish it as a dataset or as part of a competing service, without our written permission;
- use the service, or information from it, to mislead anyone, including by presenting our results as a lender's offer or as advice;
- submit false error reports, or interfere with the service, its security or other users;
- enter Tax File Numbers, identity document numbers, bank account details or passwords into the service; or
- use the service in breach of any law.
API and MCP. The API and the MCP server are offered for individuals and AI assistants to use the tools on request. We set request limits per source and overall, and may change them, block a source that misuses the service, or withdraw or change any tool without notice. If you want to build a product on the API, ask us first at info@homepedia.com.au.
6. Using the service through an AI assistant
When you use Homepedia Assistant inside ChatGPT, Claude or another AI assistant, that assistant decides when to call our tools, what inputs to send and how to present the results. It may summarise, reorder or leave out parts of what we return, including warnings and labels, or combine our results with other information.
We are responsible for the results our tools return. We are not responsible for how a third-party assistant interprets or presents them, or for anything it says that did not come from our results. The assistant provider's own terms and privacy policy apply to your use of it. To see a result exactly as we publish it, open the product or calculator page linked in the result.
7. Publishers
7.1 Who can publish
People who work for a lender, mortgage brokers, and people authorised by an institution can register in the publisher portal. You must be an adult, register in your own name with your work email address, and complete our identity and institution checks before anything you submit is shown. One account is for one person.
7.2 What we check, and when
Homepedia verifies publisher identity and checks credential numbers against the official register. We check that you are a real person, that you work for or are authorised by the institution you name, and that each licence or credential number you give matches the official register. A broker must give a credit licence or credit representative number. The lenders on a broker's panel, and what a publisher says about a product, are declared by the publisher and are not independently verified by Homepedia. We do not guarantee what you say about a product or that you can offer it to a customer, and we do not endorse your bio, prices, product details or links.
New products, corrections and channel prices are reviewed by a person before they go live, except updates by an institution to its own approved product as set out in section 4. Our review of a submission is a check for obvious errors and consistency, not an audit.
Checks last a year, or less if your licence ends sooner on the register. When a check lapses, what depends on it stops showing until you renew it.
7.3 Your obligations
When you publish, you confirm and agree that:
- the information is accurate, current and not misleading, and you will update or withdraw it promptly when it changes;
- you are authorised by your employer or the institution to publish it, and it complies with their rules, as set out in the declaration you sign;
- the content is your own or you have the right to publish it, and publishing it does not breach anyone's rights or confidentiality;
- every licence, authorisation and credential you rely on is current, and you will tell us if one ends or changes;
- you comply with the law that applies to you and to the information, including the National Consumer Credit Protection Act 2009 and the National Credit Code (such as the rules on comparison rates and credit advertising), the Australian Consumer Law and the Privacy Act 1988;
- you will not include personal information about customers or other people, except your own professional details; and
- the declaration you sign is true. You are responsible for it.
7.4 Removal and suspension
We may decline a submission, remove or label any content, or suspend or close an account, at any time, including where:
- we reasonably believe content is inaccurate, misleading, unauthorised or unlawful;
- a declaration turns out to be false, or a check or licence lapses;
- the lender or institution asks us to remove content about its products or tells us you no longer work there; or
- you breach these terms.
We will tell you why, unless the law or a risk of harm prevents us. Where a lender asks us to remove content about its products, we remove it first and review afterwards.
7.5 Responsibility for your content
You are responsible for what you publish. To the extent the law allows, you agree to indemnify Homepedia against claims by third parties arising from content you published in breach of these terms.
8. Fees for publishers
- What fees exist. We charge a fee for an identity check of a person, a fee for an institution check, and a yearly product review fee for a product an institution publishes that is not in the Consumer Data Right. Corrections to an institution's own Consumer Data Right data cost nothing extra.
- The product review fee. It pays for our review of the product's basic reasonableness and for checking the institution's updates to it during the year. The review checks that the product is described clearly and consistently, that its rates and fees are in the usual range, that any comparison rate is consistent with the rate and fees given, and that it matches the documents supplied. It does not confirm that the product is suitable for anyone. The fee is a review fee, not a fee for listing or placement.
- Effect on coverage. Products outside the Consumer Data Right appear only after the institution pays for our review. Payment does not guarantee approval and does not affect order.
- How long a review lasts. An approved review lasts one year from approval. If it is not renewed, the product stops showing, in the same way as a lapsed identity check.
- What fees do not affect. No fee affects which Consumer Data Right products appear, the order of any rate table or list of people, or the outcome of a check or review. A check or review can fail after payment.
- Amounts. The fee, what it covers and the GST are shown before you pay. Fees are in Australian dollars and exclude GST, which is added at 10%. We issue a tax invoice through Stripe. We may change fees for future checks and reviews; a change does not affect one already paid for.
- Who pays. Anyone may pay for a check, not only the person or institution being checked. Promotion codes may reduce a fee.
- Refunds. If you cancel before we start the check or review, we refund the fee in full. Once we have started, the fee is not refundable, including where the check or review is not passed or content is later removed under 7.4, unless the law requires a refund. If we stop offering the service, we refund the unused part of any yearly fee.
Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law.
9. Intellectual property and licences
- Our material. The website, the tools, our calculations, labels and explanations, and the way we select, arrange and present the data, belong to Homepedia or our licensors. Consumer Data Right data remains the lenders' information. You may use and share results under section 5.
- Publisher content. You keep ownership of what you publish. You give Homepedia a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, reproduce, label, recalculate (for example the comparison rate on a channel price), and display it on the service and through the API and MCP server (including to AI assistants), and to keep it in rate histories and our records after it stops showing. The licence for public display ends when the content is withdrawn or removed, except for the history and records.
- Names and marks. Lenders' names and logos belong to their owners. Showing them does not mean a lender endorses Homepedia or that we endorse a lender.
10. Liability
The service is provided as it is, free of charge to users.
Some laws, including the Australian Consumer Law, give you guarantees and rights that cannot be excluded. Nothing in these terms limits them. To the extent the law allows:
- we are not liable for any loss arising from a decision you make based on the service, from information supplied by lenders or publishers, from how a third-party AI assistant presents our results, or from the service being unavailable;
- we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or loss of profits, revenue or data; and
- where our liability for a failure to meet a guarantee for services can be limited, it is limited, at our option, to supplying the services again or paying the cost of having them supplied again. For a publisher, our total liability is limited to the fees the publisher paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
11. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, what is shown publicly about publishers, and how long we keep it. Do not enter Tax File Numbers, dates of birth, identity document numbers or bank account details anywhere on the service.
12. Changes and ending
We may change these terms. We will update the date at the top of this page, and email registered publishers at least 14 days before a change that materially affects them takes effect. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept it. Publishers accept the current terms when they register (section 1).
We may change, suspend or stop the service or any part of it. Publishers may close their account at any time by emailing info@homepedia.com.au.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. You and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales and the courts that hear appeals from them.
